Does Verdin i.MX 95 Evaluation Kit support 4/8 cameras?

Hi Support,

Will like to check if the EVK is capable to support 4 and 8 cameras setting? If yes, please advise the configuration/settings and what are the accessories required.

Regards,
Marcus

Hello Marcus,

Thank you for your question!

Based on the available documentation, Toradex evaluation kits (EVK) generally provide out-of-the-box support and documentation for single camera configurations, such as with the OV5640 (see reference) and the AR0521 (see reference).

To determine whether 4 or 8 cameras can be supported simultaneously, I’d need some additional information:

  1. Which specific EVK or System on Module (SoM) you are using?
  2. Which type of cameras you plan to connect (e.g., USB, MIPI CSI, parallel, etc.)?

In general:

  • USB cameras: You can theoretically connect multiple USB cameras if there are enough USB ports and system bandwidth, but performance will depend on your application and the EVK’s capabilities.
  • CSI (Camera Serial Interface) cameras: The number supported is limited by the number of available interfaces on the SoM. Toradex boards typically only expose one or two CSI inputs.
  • Accessories: You may require additional USB hubs or camera multiplexer solutions, depending on your setup.

If you provide the details above, I can give more specific recommendations on configuration, settings, and required accessories.

Best regards,

Hi,
I am looking at “i.MX 95 Verdin EVK”. However if there are other boards with NXP processor suitable for this setup, you may suggest to me instead. Main thing is the HW / EVK is ready to support 4-8 cameras setup. If test has been performed before, will be good for you to suggest the cameras too.

Marcus

Hi @MarcusLim,
On what interface you want to connect cameras?
USB/MIPI-CSI/Parallel?
What will be the resolution of the cameras?
