Hi Team,
Using Toradex model 00521003 for our project and observed frequent issues like Ethernet IC short.
LAN transformer is used as an interface between the Toradex module & Ethernet port.
Observed no issues on LAN Transformer by re-testing it with new Toradex module
Need your support for the above.

Hello,
Thank you for reaching out with your concern regarding the Ethernet IC on your Colibri iMX8 DualX 1GB module (model 00521003). Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:
-
Check Physical Connections: Please ensure that all physical connections between the module, the LAN transformer, and the Ethernet port are secure and correctly configured. Loose connections can sometimes lead to intermittent issues.
-
Verify Software Configuration: Confirm that your network configuration is set up correctly. If you are using TorizonCore, NetworkManager is the default utility. For Yocto BSP, connman is typically used. Make sure the appropriate utility is managing your Ethernet connection.
-
Test with Different Utilities: If you are currently using connman, you might want to test with systemd-networkd or NetworkManager to see if the issue persists. This can help determine if the problem is related to the software configuration.
-
Use Diagnostic Tools: Utilize tools like
iperf3
to test network performance and identify any bottlenecks or issues with the Ethernet connection. This can help isolate whether the problem is with the hardware or network configuration. -
Review Known Issues: It may be helpful to check the Colibri iMX8X errata and known issues documentation for any specific problems related to the Ethernet IC that might affect your module. This can provide insights into whether the issue is a known hardware or software bug.
If these steps do not resolve the issue, further investigation into the specific behavior of the Ethernet IC during failures may be necessary, such as checking for error messages in system logs or using a network analyzer to capture traffic during the issue.
I hope these suggestions help you address the Ethernet IC issues. Please feel free to reach out if you have any more questions.
Best regards,

Colibri IMX8 Ethernet not working except in recovery mode Technical Support
Hi, I had to reflash a board as the network configuration was a little wrong and it wouldn’t connect to any networks. It would start up occasionally with lights on the RJ45 on the carrier board, but then they would go out and the connected device would just say cable unplugged. After flashing it the ethernet port has the orange light permanently on dim. If I put it in recovery mode and run the recovery-linux.sh script it does connect to the internet and is able to see available images online w…
Transformer-less (magnetic-less) connection to Apalis TK1 Gigabit Ethernet Technical Support
I am designing a custom carrier board for the Apalis TK1. I understand that the TK1’s Ethernet controller is an Intel i210-AT. We’re planning on connecting it directly to an Ethernet switch, via PCB traces, over a very short distance (< 10 cm). The switch being considered is a Microsemi VSC7511. Do you have any information regarding whether this is possible, and if so, the termination network to be used in lieu of magnetics?

Hi @Jagruthi ,
Did you face this issue on a single module or multiple modules?
Out of 5 modules, I observed on 3 modules.
