Capture whole image at once

With our current product we can use the Update Tool within WinCE on the T20 processors to “Backup All” and create an image backup all at once. With the new iMX6 within the WinCE Update tool, there is no longer an option for this. I have to back up each individually and likewise restore this way. We need a single image backup & restore for production purposes, is there something I’m missing here?

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out with your question. It seems you’re looking for a way to create a single image backup and restore for the iMX6 platform using Windows CE, similar to the ‘Backup All’ feature you used on the T20 processors. Unfortunately, the current WinCE Update Tool for iMX6 does not support this feature directly.

For Windows CE on the iMX6, you might need to explore alternative methods or tools that can facilitate a similar backup and restore process. This could involve using third-party software solutions that are compatible with WinCE or developing a custom script or tool to automate the backup and restore process.

If you are open to exploring other operating systems, transitioning to a Linux-based system could offer more robust tools for image management, such as the Toradex Easy Installer. However, for your current WinCE setup, focusing on WinCE-specific solutions would be necessary.

I hope this helps guide you in the right direction for your production needs.

You can use the Update Tool CLI mode and create a batch file to do a full backup and restore.

Hi Chad,

Any updates here?
