Weston-touch-calibrator problem: no devices listed

Hello,

I added a touchscreen to the verdin development board’s usb port, gave the command evtest and the driver was found, as shown below:

/dev/input/event3: EloTouchSystems,Inc Elo TouchSystems 2216 AccuTouch® USB

I configured the weston.ini and added it to the file: save-calibration.sh in /usr/bin, as per the link:

When I give the command weston-touch-calibrator, I get as a response that no touch device was listed. What would be the problem?

Can you run “udevadm info /dev/input/event3”, “ls -la /dev/input”, and post your entire kernel startup?

Hello @DaveM, how are you?

How about the kernel output during startup? Via “dmesg” then?

Interesting how there is no /dev/touchscreen that’s created. Doesn’t seem like udev thinks that is a touchscreen, but just a mouse. Not sure if that’s messing anything up.

Are you using the Torizon stuff? I believe there is some more nice log data in that calibration container.

Might also be nice to run evtest again on this particular device and show the output as you touch and move your finger around the device.

@DaveM, Initialization takes a maximum of 30 seconds. I’m using the Toradex Reference Image here for the Verdin imx8mm.

Through the dmesg command, I got the following output, in relation to touch:

[ 3.921955] usb 1-1.1: New full-speed USB device number 4 using ci_hdrc

With the command evtest, I have the same answer and, however, the x axis is inverted. when I press right, the pointer goes to the left.

Hi, @daniel_m.tx, how are you?

Can you help-me? Thanks!

Hello, Allan!

Please, take a look on this link. Could you launch the calibration with the input to event3 and report us any message displayed?

Also, in order to check if the problem is related to the weston-calibrator, could you test other calibration tool, such as libinput? Please, check the following article.

Best regards,
Felipe Madureira

Philip, how are you?
Felipe, I’ve tried everything, including libinput. By libinput, setting the values of the matrix, I have results, but I don’t know which is the correct matrix for the touch, it doesn’t follow integer values… I’ve searched a lot on the internet, blogs, forums, but I didn’t find a solution. I tried to use the command: weston-calibrator, it entered the calibration screen, but it doesn’t work with the click, it gives an error in the coordinates… in short, I don’t know what to do.

Thank you for the information, Allan.

Please take a look at this article where you can find standard matrix values, can you please try them and check if you can calibrate it using libinput? For more informaton about the matrix, please take a look at this question.

Best regards,
Felipe Madureira

Felipe, good night, how are you?
So, I had already checked the first link, including using the matrix:

echo 'ENV{LIBINPUT_CALIBRATION_MATRIX}="-1 0 1 0 1 0"' > /etc/udev/rules.d/libinput.rules

It was the one that best suited the touch, but it is only covering 10 inches, while the touch is 15.6 inches.
That is, the screen responds to commands in x and y, but does not go to extremes.
If there is a command for touch calibration, shouldn’t it apply to most of them?

HI @allanbic ,

Are you still facing this issue?

It seems that the event is coming up on your system, what happen if you point the weston-touch-calibrator directly to the generated event?

As example:

weston-touch-calibrator <path-to-event>/event3

Also, can you please share your entire dmesg log?

Best regards,
Daniel Morais

Hi Daniel, how are you?
Daniel, I tried anything and everything and it didn’t work.
Look at the answer I get:

What can I do?

Hi @allanbic ,

I made a small test on my side with a USB touch I have here and it worked fine, it seems that the problem is specific to your display, it is really strange as it seems that your display is being recognized as a mouse, and not as a touchscreen, do you have any other device you can test?

I’m investigating it on my side too, will let you know if I find anything.

Best regards,
Daniel Morais

Hi @allanbic,

I am facing the same problem, my device is recognised as a mouse and not touchscreen so i can’t calibrate my screen through west-touch-calibrator.
Do you have any solutions to provide ?

Thank you,

Hi, how are you?

What touch screen display are you using? I mean, what model and what manufacturer?

Yes, I managed to solve the problem. I checked the display model and manufacturer and installed the touch driver using commands in the Linux terminal.

Try checking the model and manufacturer of the display, I’ll try to help you solve the problem.

Hi @allanbic, fine and you ?
I am currently usign a touchscreen from RODA, this one : https://www.roda-computer.fr/fileadmin/downloads/Data_Sheets/Displays/Serval/RD15-UXGA/data_sheet_Serval_RD15-UXGA-03_2022-09-06.pdf
The thing is that I have already try to install the drivers but this was messing up the initial configuration. For example, another device was identified as the touch screen but the touch wasn’t working on this device …
Maybe I’ve downloaded the wrong version of the drivers …

Thank you for answering !

Regards,

Hi @Muzzy ,

Since the question is old and was already closed, can you please create a new question adding all the information regarding your setup?

Best regards,
Daniel Morais
