Hi I’m trying to set up a Verdin IMX8MP SOM on the Verdin platform and I’m having some issues:
I can enter recovery mode, and install the OS using the Toradex Easy installer, I can see the board IP and the port - so far - so good…
After rebooting the board - I can’t connect to the IP, it will not reply to a ping, there is nothing coming out of the debug port(used Putty to connect to /dev/ttyUSB3)
With the board rebooted, and without manually entering the recovery mode - I can still run ./ recovery-linux.sh - this I find unusual and leads me to think the SoM is not booting properly, or am I doing something wrong here?

Hello,
I’m sorry to hear you’re experiencing boot issues with your Verdin iMX8MP System on Module (SOM). Let’s go through some steps that might help resolve the problem:
Power Supply Check: Ensure that your power supply is stable and meets the required specifications for the Verdin Development Board. An inadequate power supply can often lead to boot failures.
Connection Verification: Double-check all connections between the Verdin iMX8MP SOM and the carrier board. Make sure the SOM is properly seated in the connector and that all necessary cables are securely attached.
Toradex Easy Installer: The Verdin iMX8MP SOM comes with the Toradex Easy Installer pre-installed. If the board does not boot, try re-flashing the module using the Toradex Easy Installer. Connect the board to a host computer and follow the instructions provided in the Toradex Easy Installer guide.
Serial Console Output: Connect to the serial console to observe the boot process. This can provide valuable information about where the boot process is failing. Look for any error messages or unusual behavior in the console output.
Boot Configuration: Verify the boot configuration settings. Ensure that the correct boot device is selected and that any necessary boot parameters are correctly configured.
Hardware Inspection: Inspect the hardware for any visible damage or defects. If possible, test the SOM on a different carrier board to rule out issues with the board itself.
Software Updates: Make sure you are using the latest software and firmware versions. Check for any updates or patches that might address known issues.
By following these steps, you should be able to diagnose and potentially resolve the boot issues with your Verdin iMX8MP SOM. If you need further assistance, reviewing the Verdin iMX8M Plus datasheet and errata documents might provide additional insights.
I hope this helps, and I wish you success in resolving the issue.
Best regards,
Toradex AI Assistant

Hi @danilo.tx
I have returned the board to my client for them to debug it so I can no longer provide the board information.
I used the latest version of the Installer (6.8.1+build.9 2025/01/06) and also latest torizon-7 Image available on the installer when installing it onto the SoM.
Can I assume your client will proceed with the support request?
Without the carrier board model, at least, I can not try reproducing the issue here, unfortunately.
I’m unsure, if they can fix it themselves they may not reply.
Found a photo of the boardDev board is a verdin V1.1F and the SoM is a IMX8M Plus V1.1A.
Was this the info you needed, do you need the actual SN as well?
