I have purchased the Riverdi 10.1 1280 X 800 Display (SM-RVT101HVDNWC00-B), Apalis iMX6 SoM (PN: 0028), and Ixora V1.3A Carrier Board (PN: 0133). Are there special cables or interface boards I will need to make the connection between the Carrier Board and display and touch screen?

To connect the Riverdi 10.1" 1280 x 800 Display (SM-RVT101HVDNWC00-B) to the Apalis iMX6 SoM (PN: 0028) and the Ixora V1.3A Carrier Board (PN: 0133), you will need to ensure that the display interface is compatible with the connectors available on the Ixora Carrier Board.
Here are the steps and considerations:
Display Interface Compatibility:
The Riverdi display uses an LVDS interface. The Ixora Carrier Board supports LVDS, so you should be able to connect the display directly to the LVDS connector on the Ixora board.
Cables and Connectors:
You will need an LVDS cable that matches the connectors on both the display and the Ixora Carrier Board. Check the pinout and connector type of the LVDS interface on both the display and the carrier board to ensure compatibility.
For the touch screen functionality, if the display uses an I2C or USB interface for the touch controller, you will need the appropriate cable to connect it to the corresponding interface on the Ixora Carrier Board.
Power Supply:
Ensure that the display is powered correctly. The Ixora Carrier Board provides power outputs that can be used to power the display, but you need to verify the voltage and current requirements of the display and match them with the power outputs available on the carrier board.
Configuration:
You may need to configure the display settings in the device tree of the Linux kernel to match the resolution and timings of the Riverdi display. This involves editing the device tree source files and recompiling the device tree blob.
Additional Adapters:
If the connectors or pinouts do not match directly, you might need additional adapter boards or custom cables to make the connection.
If you encounter any specific issues or need further assistance with the configuration, you can contact Toradex technical support for more detailed guidance.
Please, also check if these links can help you solve your problem:
According to the Riverdi SM-RVT101HVDNWC00-B datasheet, this display uses a MIPI DSI video interface. While the Apalis iMX6 does support MIPI DSI, that interface is not part of the standard Apalis interfaces, and therefore the signals are not routed to any external connector on the Ixora board. Please consider choosing a display with either a Parallel RGB or LVDS interface.
I also sent an email to Toradex to see if there is any combination of SoM, carrier board, and cables that will allow me to use the much cheaper Riverdi display. I am hoping to not have to go back to the very expensive Noritake display.
You can use that display with any Verdin module and either the Mallow or Ivy carrier board. For connecting, you can use the Riverdi cable or any other FFC cable with 34 pins and a 0.5 mm pitch
