Stuck in Commercial temperature grade DDR3 timings. Trying to boot from MMC1

Hardware: Apalis IMX6 + Evaluation Board
Reference Image: Apalis-iMX6_Reference-Multimedia-Image-upstream-Tezi_5.3.0+

I was trying to update my kernel by booting into u-boot and then “run setupdate” and “run update”.

The update ran into error and it stuck in “Stuck in Commercial temperature grade DDR3 timings. Trying to boot from MMC1”. I tried to reboot toradex and realize I can no longer boot into u-boot or my system, whenever I reboot or start toradex, it will instantly go to “Stuck in Commercial temperature grade DDR3 timings. Trying to boot from MMC1”

I wanted to use Toradex Easy Installer to reinstall my reference image however I cannot access u-boot at all.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

Best Regards,

Alex

Please put your module into a recovery mode using a hardware mechanism. Then load Toradex Easy installer over USB OTG and flash a new image from network or local storage. Mentioned “run setupdate” and “run update” method is deprecated and shouldn’t be used.

Thank you so much Alex! This method solved my issue.

Cheers!

Same observations on the colibri imx6 dl 512MB V1.1 (newer 0079).
After run setupdate && run update it just prints “Commercial Temperature grade …”.

I tried to flash the older easy installer 1.8 (like on the 00151100 colibri imx6 dl 512MB V1.1).
Entering the recovery mode and load the easy installer 1.8 works (only if no sdcard is present).

To use run setupdate && run update i need to install easyinstaller 1.8 to emmc to use uboot. The very same easy installer 1.8 is not compatible to install from usb:

Is there a way to install the old software to the new colibri imx6 dl 512MB V1.1 (without winCE) to ultimately use the legacy run setupdate && run update method?

works if you add the 0079 product ID to the image.json
wrapup.sh fails but the old uboot is present to use “run setupdate && run update”

Hello @m.tellian,

I will continue the conversation we have via email.
For future reference, documentation on the software installation impact of the new products without a WinCE license can be found here: New Product Configurations Without Windows EC | Toradex Developer Center
