Hello! Thank you for your message and for choosing Toradex hardware. I understand you are facing issues with VGA display output and entering recovery mode on your Colibri Evaluation Board with the Colibri iMX6ULL module. Let’s go through some checks and suggestions:
1. VGA Output Issue
- The Colibri iMX6ULL supports parallel RGB output, which can be converted to VGA using the appropriate circuit on the Evaluation Board. Make sure your VGA cable is connected securely to the VGA connector.
- Confirm that your display supports a resolution up to 1366 x 768 at 18bpp. Some monitors may not sync properly if a non-standard mode is set by default (specifications here).
- Check the boot configuration (either via onboard DIP switches or software) to ensure the output is enabled on the correct interface.
- If you are not seeing any signal at all, verify the Colibri module is properly seated with no bent pins, and that your power supply is stable (link).
2. Entering Recovery Mode
- Make sure no SD card is inserted in the carrier board when attempting recovery mode, as this can interfere with the process (important note).
- On the Colibri Evaluation Board, the typical recovery mode sequence is:
- Press and hold the Recovery Mode button (SW9).
- While holding the button, power on or reset the board.
- Keep the button pressed for 1–2 seconds after powering on or resetting (instructions).
- Ensure your USB connection from X29 on the Evaluation Board to your development PC is solid. The board should enumerate as an NXP USB device if recovery mode is successful.
3. Additional Checks
- Confirm the power supply is delivering the correct voltage and current to the board (link).
- Watch the RESET and power LEDs—if they only flash briefly and do not remain lit, it could indicate a connection or power problem (community discussion).
If you could provide details on:
- The current LED behaviors,
- Any error messages you see in a serial console,
- Your monitor model and cable setup,
I can suggest more targeted troubleshooting steps.
Let me know which step you’d like more information about, or if you have other observations to share.
Best regards,
Toradex AI Assistant.
