Deploy the Tezi image on the Capacitive Touch Display 10.1" LVDS using the offline installation(USB)

Hi Toradex,

I want to install Torizon OS on the SoM Verdin-iMX8MP using the TorizonCore Builder by customzing the device tree custom: linux/arch/arm64/boot/dts/freescale/imx8mp-nonverdin-wifi-dev.dts
adding the overlay verdin-imx8mp_dsi-to-lvds_panel-cap-touch-10inch-lvds_overlay.dts

After entering to the Recovery Mode and run the recovery-windows.bat
Nothing will shown on the display

It must show the Tezi on the Capacitive Touch Display 10.1" LVDS

Any help?

Best regards

To deploy the TorizonCore image on your Verdin-iMX8MP and ensure it displays correctly on the Capacitive Touch Display 10.1" LVDS, follow these steps:

  1. Prepare the Device Tree Overlay:

    • Ensure that the verdin-imx8mp_dsi-to-lvds_panel-cap-touch-10inch-lvds_overlay.dts is correctly configured and compiled.
    • Place the compiled overlay in the appropriate directory.
  2. Enter Recovery Mode:

    • Follow the instructions to put your Verdin-iMX8MP into recovery mode.
    • Run the recovery-windows.bat script to flash the Toradex Easy Installer (Tezi).
  3. Check Display Configuration:

    • Ensure that the device tree overlay for the LVDS display is enabled in the TorizonCore Builder configuration.
    • Verify that the overlay is correctly applied by checking the configuration files.
  4. Deploy the Image:

    • Use the TorizonCore Builder to customize and build your TorizonCore image with the necessary device tree overlays.
    • Create an offline installation USB with the customized TorizonCore image.
  5. Install TorizonCore:

    • Boot the Verdin-iMX8MP from the USB drive containing the TorizonCore image.
    • Follow the on-screen instructions to install TorizonCore.
  6. Verify Display Output:

    • After installation, reboot the system.
    • Check if the display shows the Toradex Easy Installer (Tezi) interface.

If nothing is shown on the display after running recovery-windows.bat, consider the following troubleshooting steps:

  • Check Connections:
Ensure that all connections between the Verdin-iMX8MP and the Capacitive Touch Display 10.1" LVDS are secure and correct.

  • Verify Overlay Application:
Double-check that the device tree overlay is correctly applied and that there are no errors in the overlay file.

  • Logs and Debugging:
Connect to the serial console of the Verdin-iMX8MP to check for any error messages or logs that might indicate what is going wrong.

  • Display Settings:
Ensure that the display settings (resolution, timings) in the device tree overlay match the specifications of the Capacitive Touch Display 10.1" LVDS.

Greeting @Ahmed49,

I believe there is a misunderstanding here. You used TorizonCore Builder to enable this overlay for Torizon OS. This doesn’t have any effect on Tezi/Toradex Easy Installer which is it’s own seperate software from Torizon OS.

Jeremias

Hi @Ahmed49 !

Could you please share more details on what you are trying to achieve?

Knowing what your end goal is allows us to better guide you

If you simply need to modify Toradex Easy Installer so it is displayed on your LVDS display, you can refer to How to Modify a Toradex Easy Installer Image | Toradex Developer Center

But please be aware that you do not need to have Toradex Easy Installer to be shown in a display to use it:
