Does this mean that the answer to my question here is “yes, branch toradex_6.6-2.1.x-imx should be used now to build Torizon OS 7”?

Yes, for Torizon OS 7.1.0 and nightly images the toradex_6.6-2.1.x-imx branch should be used when building Torizon OS 7.
