Apalis IMX8 Evaluation board no video output (DVI or VGA)

Hi All,

I have an Apalis IMX8 Quad Plus with an apalis toradex evaluation carrier board. I am using Yocto, easy installer to write image

I am trying to get the VGA or DVI display but it dosnt work.

I followed the instructions according to
https://developer-archives.toradex.com/getting-started/module-1-from-the-box-to-the-shell/unboxing-and-setup-cables-apalis-evaluation-board-imx8-torizon?som=apalis-imx8&board=apalis-evaluation-board&os=torizon&desktop=linux

But,unfortunately I couldnt get any video on the display(monitor).

I even tried to use some monitor , but I see nothing there.
I have also tried the tdx-reference-mulitmedia image, but it also dosnt work and same results.

There is nothing displayed on the screen, during U-Boot or in Linux boot even recovery boot with easy installer.

thanks in advance

Could you please share a HW revision of your Apalis iMX8 board? Can you see a Toradex Easy GUI on your display?

Hello @hhami
Please note that the iMX8 SoM’s don’t have a VGA output. See section 5.6.4 of the Apalis data sheet for more information.

Regarding the DVI output, what kind of monitor are you using. If it is a DVI-A monitor it will not work, because the DVI connector in the evaluation board does not have the analog signal pins connected.

Have you tried to use the HDMI connection to check if that works?

Best regards,
Josep

Not sure if that helps, but for me the display worked when I connected the board to the monitor using a DVI-DVI cable, I initially tried with DVI-VGA cable but it didn’t work (same monitor).

Good luck

Hi

appreciate that
we have to use DVI-D to HDMI convertor or DVI-DVI CAble
