Wipe Flash Drive and Registry

Normally I wipe flash drive and registry before updating the new image. In the article about the Update Tool the parameter /w is marked as deprecated. Does it mean, I do not need to do the wipe any more?

Your guess was correct.
Wiping was important for some special preconditions .
The latest versions of the Update tool use a different algorithm to do the update, so wiping is not required anymore.
