Where might I find power consumption numbers for the colibri-imx6 used with an iris carrier board?

Like has been so nicely presented here where can I see similar power consumption numbers for the following parts? (running Linux, if it matters)

Colibri iMX6 Solo 256MB IT (PN: 00781100)
Iris Carrier board (PN: 01352001)

Hello,

For the Iris carrier board, the power supply specifications are as follows:

  • Supply voltage range: 6-27V DC
  • On-board power supplies: 5V 5A and 3.3V 5A

You can find more details on the Iris carrier board here.

Regarding the power consumption of the Colibri iMX6 Solo 256MB IT, specific numbers are not readily available in the standard documentation. However, you can explore the Toradex Community and GitHub for discussions and resources that might provide further insights.

If you have any more questions or need further assistance, feel free to ask.

Hi Warren,

I do not think we have these kinds of numbers with the Iris. The link you shared is all we have on the Colibri iMX6.

As Michael mentioned, unfortunately we haven’t performed power consumption tests using the Iris board. However, you can expect results very similar to those of the Viola board under the same test conditions—though slightly higher, due to the greater number of ICs present on the Iris board compared to the Viola.

If the primary reason for preferring the Iris to the Viola is because the primary purpose of the EC is to have an Ethernet-connected means of pushing out fairly static 1080p images with minimal power consumption, then would the iMX6/Viola with a Colibri HDMI adapter be a better route (with a poorer physical mounting arrangement)?

Yes, this approach can help you save a few milliwatts of power.
