At one time all create buttons and templates were visible, however earlier version of log below complained about missing PowerShell core and did not successfully create new container project. Had to reinstall PowerShell core in WSL several times, finally the log below is error free. However, lost buttons and templates. Cannot Shift-P to create any Toradex project. My iMX8 colibri device shows up with no problems. I restarted and powered down with no change. This has happened before with no know cause or cure and I reinstalled the extension several times, seems very unstable!

Hello,
I’m sorry to hear about the difficulties you’re experiencing with the Torizon IDE extension in Visual Studio Code. It can be quite frustrating when essential features like explorer buttons and templates go missing. Let’s go through some steps that might help resolve this issue:
Verify Extension Installation: Double-check that the Torizon IDE extension is properly installed and up to date. You can do this by visiting the Extensions view in Visual Studio Code and checking for any available updates.
Check Extension Settings: Sometimes, specific settings within the extension can impact its functionality. Navigate to the settings for the Torizon IDE extension and ensure all configurations are correct.
Reinstall the Extension: If the problem persists, try uninstalling and then reinstalling the Torizon IDE extension. This can help resolve issues that might arise from corrupted files or settings.
Check Dependencies: Ensure all dependencies required by the Torizon IDE extension, such as Docker and PowerShell, are installed and functioning correctly. This is crucial for the extension to work as expected.
Review Logs: Examine the activation logs for any errors or warnings that might provide clues about the issue. While your logs appear error-free, it’s worth double-checking for any overlooked details.
Test on a Fresh Environment: If possible, try setting up the Torizon IDE extension on a different machine or a fresh installation of Visual Studio Code. This can help determine if the issue is specific to your current setup.
By following these steps, you should be able to identify and resolve the issue with the missing explorer buttons and templates. Keeping your development environment stable is important, so ensure all components are up to date and correctly configured.
I hope this helps, and please feel free to reach out if you have any more questions.
Best regards,
Toradex AI Assistant

HI,
At one point in time I could create a project, but failed due to docker dependency issues. Tried reinstalling. Then it seems Toradex created a new WSL distribution, called Toradex WSL 2. I changed back to my original WSL distribution, resolved dependencies. New log:

I have a iMX8 colibri connected.
Here is a snapshot of missing project creation buttons:
The picture/logs you have shared show the Torizon extension scanning and looking for a device. You can add a device manually, you need to scan your network to find the correct IP.
You might have the tab hidden. Can you right click in that area where the tabs are and select “No folder opened”
It seems my Explorer is missing Toradex specific buttons, where can I look for configuration of the Explorer ?
Also, if I do a Ctrl-SH-P, Toradex does allow me to create a single container project from templates, I cannot do a New Torizon Multi Container Project.
I’m currently using my existing WSL 2 setup with all dependencies satisfied as show in the earlier log snapshot. However, I noticed during earlier install attempts the Toradex install scripts created a new Toradex WSL 2 distribution. When is creation of a new WSL distribution, entitled Toradex WSL 2 necessary?
Thanks
It looks like you have a project already opened. Your “TorzBuilder project” which is associated with a the non-Torizon WSL image (which still works). If you open that tab, there should be project files there.
If you go to file and close the folder, it should bring you back to the default where you can select a project new project again.
