I want to connect a 12V power supply to Viola carrier board. In the datasheet, there is an info that that is not possible (5V ±0.25V). But, in schematics, if I follow some steps that is possible (See the picture attached)
I followed the steps but the buck converter was damaged. The question is: is it possible to supply the viola carrier board with a voltage greater than 5V?

Yes. It should be possible to apply more than 5V following those steps.
I would like to ask you to ensure that R57, R70, R71, and R2 are not assembled and check if the 12V may damage something connected to pin 1 of X9.
Then, you may measure the voltages for PWR_IN and PWR_IN_FILT to check if present the voltage that they should have. Also, you could measure the signal at the 3.3V (preferably at the regulator output, but at the header would also do)
Also, check if you really have a Viola V1.2 because older versions ( < V1.2) have no R57.
