I’ve planned to use a iMX8M Mini SOM. The ambient temperatrue can rise to up to 45°C in my case. I want to prepare the possibility to mount a heat sink to the SOM. Regarding Verdin Carrier Board Design Guide, the heat sink can be mounted with steelspacer.
Should these spacers be connected to GND?

The short answer is yes. The long answer depends a bit.
Are you planning to mount the Toradex heatsink on the SoM or are you using a custom one (like a heatsink that is directly connected to the casing)? If so it is recommended to use the Shield Ground for it. So it is not directly the Signal GND of the SoM. We can jump in a quick call if that would help.
