USB RNDIS is a Microsoft Proprietary Protocol which provides a virtual Ethernet Link.
Pin 1 and Pin2 of JP4 should only be connected to go recovery mode, once you installed an image. You should remove this connection and power cycle the carrier board.
This will be defined by your dhcp server.
Should I before reboot return the board into its original setup, i.e. JP2 in, JP4 out ?
Yes, after you installed successfully an image of your choice.
No clear.
After going into “recovery mode” and running recovery-windows.bat, the Toradex Installer window appears … and this window is empty, that is to say there are no elements.
What should I do next:
- remove JP4, put JP2 and reboot
- search for a solution to establish internet connection in order to fill Toradex Installer with some images
- something else
Possible to know it somehow ?
If there is no images, how to proceed ?
Can you also comment on this weird: originally I could reboot board as many times as I wanted and each time after board was powered on, the window of “Toradex Installer” appeared.
But after my unfortunate intevention (i.e. installing of new version of Toradex Installer), it’s no more the case: after flashing Toradex Installer in “recovery mode” (at least as I nderstood it) and rebooting, the Toradex Installer doesn’t reappear … i.e. installing “Toradex Installer” in “recovery mode” seems as one-shot action in other words “Toradex Installer” seems isn’t flashed, but rather downloading in the board RAM. Correct ?
If Ethernet is not working, you can download the image from this link and extract to the media of your choice (USB, SD card).

Jaski
… extract to the media of your
choice (USB, SD card)
And then reboot ? Without any other manipulation … i.e. connect/deconnect some JPi, etc. ?
Can I use USB flash ?
Once again (I already asked this question): why only console version of Linux is available ?
you can connect the UART and use a terminal program to see the logs during boot up
can you plug it in a free port of you ethernet router and see if it gets an IP address?
It seems that the discovery worked fine. But you do not have a network connection.
Hello Pavel,
When you do the recovery process and you see the Toradex Easy Installer it does not mean that it is flashed it is just loaded into RAM.
Hello Pavel,
please also click on the feeds icon and check which feed is selected. but the may issue is that you don’t have a network connection.
try normal error exclusion and check the ethernet cable and everything that could cause the problem
Well, it’s the main point: without Internet connection no any workaround. What is strange: when Toradex Easy Installer was in flash (i.e. before my misadventure) I could create establish Internet connection by creating a bridge “wifi-Ethernet” on my PC running Windiws 10, but once Toradex Easy Installer is loaded from RAM (i.e. after recovery) the “bridge method” doesn’t work anymore. Do you have any comments on this issue ?
Hi @Pavel_52
We don’t have experience using the Windows especially the bridge method but I would recommend you to use Linux and check our developer article about setting network for development and production.
Could you try also to connect the Ixora carrier board directly to a dhcp server without using the bridge?
Best regards,
Jaski
