Support of Vision Components MIPI IMX327-C on Toradex Verdin iMX8M Plus

Hi there,

We are trying to support Vision Components MIPI IMX327-C on Toradex Verdin iMX8M Plus.
We identified 2 ways to interact with the cameras:

  • directly using the ISI (Independent Sensor Interface)

    • The formats supported by the ISI driver are:
      • RGB32
      • YUV32
  • use ISP (Image Signal Processing)

    • This is a video hardware block providing image processing and colour space conversion functions (RAW Bayer to YUV).
    • The cameras supported by ISP are:
      • ar1335
      • os08a20
      • ov2775
      • basler-camera
  • We would like to get the confirmation that MIPI IMX327-C is not supported by Toradex Verdin iMX8M Plus

  • We would like to know if there is a plan to support more camera on ISP

  • We would like to know if you can refer us MIPI-CSI2 cameras that could be supported with third party ISP support

Thanks !

Hello @Eloi,

You are correct about the ISI and ISP on the Verdin iMX8MP.

We have been in contact via email, but I will leave a reply here as well so that others may also know the relevant information.

This camera is not supported by the Toradex BSP 6.
Support could be added, but backporting of the mainline drivers for this camera and the i.MX8MP ISP would be necessary.

Yes, we are currently working with camera partners to provide a great experience with cameras on the Verdin iMX8MP, including ISP support.
The recommendation for camera partners can depend on the specific project requirements, therefore it is best to contact us so we can look into the requirements.

Best Regards,
