Snmp agent not working

Hello,
I use Verdin iMX8M Mini with
Dahlia Board V1.1C
I created an image called ‘TDX Wayland with XWayland 6.2.0-devel-xxx (kirkstone) verdin-imx8mm Verdin-iMX8MM_Reference-Multimedia-Image’ using the instructions ‘Build a Reference Image with Yocto Project/OpenEmbedded’. This image should be snmp capable. To do this, I added the entry IMAGE_INSTALL:append = “net-snmp” to the ‘local.con’ file. After starting the image, commands like smnpget and smnpwalk are available and work. What I can’t see is the snmpd service, that is, the smnp agent. Do I need to install anything extra? How must the service be started?

Hello @Kai ,
Can you try adding also net-snmp-server?

Best regards,
Josep

Hello Josep,
I have already tried that, an error message is displayed that net-snmp-server does not exist.
Best regards,
Kai

Hi,
I think I solved the problem. To do this I ran ‘bitbake net-snmp’. Then, among other things, the ‘net-snmp-server-snmpd’ is generated. This package can then be installed via a local package manager with ‘apt-get install net-snmp-server-snmpd’. I don’t know if it’s the right way, but the snmpd service is running after the installation.
Best regards
Kai
