Hi,
Are there any support for the SMSC9500/LAN9500A USB to Ethernet IC in WEC2013?
Or has someone compiled the driver for it?

Dear @TJO
We do have the driver source code, but actually never used it, and we don’t know the state of theses sources.
I can offer you to build the driver for WEC2013 “as is” (assuming that it builds without problems). However, this is probably not enough for you in the long run.
Therefore I would rather recommend you to use one of the LAN chips we assemble on our modules, such as the Asix AX88772B. There we have drivers that are well tested and established, which leads to a much more stable software environment for you.

Hi,
Yes, I really would like to use something with the AX88772B chip in it.
But I can’t find something that is desgined for Industrial use,
All I can find is some white plastic OEM devices
I need something like this: Beckhoff | New Automation Technology | Beckhoff Worldwide

Dear @TJO
If you design your own carrierboard, you could easily implement an additional AX88772B there. However, I assume this is out of question for your application.
i’m afrad I’m not aware of any off-the-shelf products simiar to the one that you mentioned above.

Hi Andy,
Is you offer still valid to try build the driver?
I have an USB adapter with the chipset and has time to test it. For performance and stability
Thomas
Dear @TJO
We built the SMSC900 driver for WEC2013:
As mentioned before, it is built “as-is”, I didn’t have an option to do any tests.
