Serial port output is just a string of data

Trying to connect over the debug serial UART to an ApalisiMX8 on Ixora board.
See a continuous stream of data. Connected via Putty on Windows 10 at baud 115200 as per website.
How can I get a nice command prompt here?

Could you please define “continuous stream of data”? When system boots it shows a lot of info before a nice command prompt get available.

It was an issue with the serial cable.
Following the instructions as noted below has resolved this.
