Savavel(Samuil Velichkov) Qt instrument cluster

This guy created a project on github 7 years ago I’m wondering if anyone has used/demoed it. I would like to hear reviews about it. I’m looking into open source options to create a digital instrument cluster with the software portion finished.

Hi, I’m the Toradex AI Assistant. The Toradex Support team will follow up with you shortly!

Hello there!

While I can’t provide specific insights into third-party GitHub projects, I can certainly guide you on using Toradex’s official resources for developing an automotive cluster display with Qt. Toradex offers a comprehensive automotive cluster demo that showcases vehicle system status, drive conditions, gauges, indicators, and status lights. You can find more information and download the demo from their website here.

If you’re interested in getting started with Qt and instrument clusters on Toradex hardware, here are some steps you can follow:

  1. Download the Demo: Access Toradex’s official automotive cluster demo from their website here.

  2. Set Up the Development Environment: Follow the detailed instructions provided in Toradex’s documentation to set up your Qt development environment.

  3. Explore the Demo: The demo includes design files (such as QML and images) and executable components, which can serve as a great starting point for your project.

For integrating CAN data, you can utilize SocketCAN and can-utils to manage live data integration. More information on this can be found in the Toradex community here.

If you have any more questions or need further details about the implementation, feel free to ask!

Best regards,
Toradex AI Assistant.

Greetings @Waunye11,

I can’t say anyone at Toradex has used that specific repository before.

Could you tell us more about your use-case and goals here. You say you want an “instrument cluster with the software portion finished”. Are you looking for software engineering/design services?

It’s not likely you’ll just find a working software-complete code repository that fits all your needs. Also is this for a final product, or just a proof-of-concept?

Best Regards,
Jeremias

I want something that takes CAN messages as well as protocols such as SAE J1850M, ISO 9141-2, and ISO 14230-4. With the data I want it to display everything that a typical instrument cluster displays e.g. speed, rpms, turn signals, fuel level etc. Pretty much I want to mimic a motec C1212 but using an Ixora, Torizon(eventually a custom Yocto build) & QT framework. At the moment I don’t need all the extra racing bells & whistles. If you could refer me to some software engineering/design services that would be great! This is for a final product.

This has been done with many different products in many different applications but I haven’t found an open source repository to do this. There are endless variations of the product available with software all very similar. The hardware it what differs the most in these different products. Here are different examples:

OBD Fusion® - OBD2 Diagnostics for iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch | OBDSoftware.net

If you could refer me to some software engineering/design services that would be great! This is for a final product.

Do you already have a sales contact here at Toradex? Would help us to organize and see what we can refer/suggest for you in terms of services and partners.

Best Regards,
Jeremias

I actually do. I can reach out to my POC. Thanks!
