when I’m interfacing toradex board with emmc card .I’m getting some IO errors ,it doesn’t solve, so I want to know the details of hardware connections and its initial pin states(high or low) and operating conditions. RSt and cd and ds pins states, and the errors i’m getting is 4 bit switching failed and , when comes to memory I found booting and rpmb but i didn’t find user partition.card is detected but partitions not found. And i’m unable to create partitions.

Based on the context provided, here are the details and recommendations for addressing the IO errors you are encountering when interfacing a Toradex board with an eMMC card:
Hardware Connections and Initial Pin States:
- RSt (Reset) Pin: This pin should typically be low during normal operation. Ensure that it is correctly configured to be low to avoid communication issues.
- CD (Card Detect) Pin: This pin should be high when the card is present. Verify that this pin is set high to confirm the presence of the eMMC card.
- DS (Data Strobe) Pin: The state of this pin can vary based on the data transfer process. Ensure that it is configured correctly according to the data transfer requirements.
Operating Conditions:
- Ensure that the eMMC card’s operating conditions, such as voltage levels and timing requirements, are met. Failure to adhere to these conditions can lead to communication failures.
Troubleshooting Steps:
- Verify Hardware Connections: Double-check that all connections between the Toradex board and the eMMC card are secure and correctly configured.
- Check Initial Pin States: Confirm that the RSt, CD, and DS pins are set to their correct initial states (high or low) as mentioned above.
- Review Documentation: Consult the Toradex documentation for specific requirements related to eMMC interfacing, including any necessary commands for partition creation and initialization.
- Investigate Initialization Process: Ensure that the eMMC card is properly initialized and formatted. If the card is detected but user partitions are not found, it may be due to improper initialization or configuration. Consider reformatting the card or checking for compatibility issues with the Toradex board.
By following these recommendations, you may be able to resolve the IO errors and successfully create partitions on the eMMC card.

Hi @saivenkatesh019,
What module you are using?
What OS you are using?
How you are connecting/interfacing eMMC ?
You should check the eMMC specification which you are interfacing
What is rpmb?
Hi ,
I hope this message finds you well.
I wanted to provide an update regarding my project using the Toradex Evaluation Board (Rev 3.2) with the i.MX6 processor. I am interfacing with an eMMC card through the board’s SD card pins. The connections are set up as follows:
- The CMD and CLK pins are connected as per standard SD card interfacing.
- For the data lines, out of D0-D7,I’m using D0-D3 from the eMMC, as the Toradex board only has these available.
- The CD pin from the SD card interface is connected to GND to ensure that the eMMC card is detected properly.
Regarding eMMC memory partitioning, I have noted that there are five default partitions. Specifically, I found Boot1, Boot2, and RPMB (Replay Protected Memory Block), but I couldn’t locate a designated user space for reading and writing files. And to do this interfacing how will be the pin states for initial and final booting.
IMP:By this interfacing emmc card detected but I’m getting IO errors.
Could you provide any insights or guidance on accessing the user space on the eMMC? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you!
