Related to LVDS interface on Toradex Verdin EVK

I am using i.MX95 Verdin EVK. I need to use a 21.5" display with LVDS interface which draws 2 amperes for the backlight. the part of the schematics from datasheet is shown above. Does the EVK have the capability to deliver 2 Amperes of current? If not, what is the maximum current it can deliver for backlight?

Greetings,

The Verdin iMX8M Plus EVK, designed for use with the Verdin family of System on Modules (SoMs), does not directly provide 2 amperes of current for a display backlight through its LVDS interface. The LVDS connector on the Verdin carrier boards is primarily intended for signal transmission, not for powering external devices such as a display backlight that requires significant current.

For a display that requires 2 amperes for the backlight, you would typically need to provide power to the backlight separately from the LVDS signal interface. This can be done using an external power supply or a power output available on the carrier board, ensuring it meets the voltage and current requirements of the display’s backlight.

It’s important to consult the Verdin carrier board’s datasheet and schematic for details on available power outputs and their specifications. If the carrier board provides a suitable power output, you could use this to power your display’s backlight. Otherwise, an external power solution will be necessary.

When integrating such a display, also consider the electrical characteristics and compatibility of the LVDS signals between the display and the Verdin SoM, including voltage levels and timing requirements, to ensure proper operation.

For specific details on interfacing high-power devices with the Verdin family or for guidance on selecting an appropriate power solution for your display, reviewing the technical documentation of the SoM and carrier board is advisable.

Based on the provided context, there is no specific information about the current delivery capabilities of the Verdin Development Board (EVK) for the backlight of an LVDS display.

To determine if the Verdin EVK can deliver 2 amperes of current for the backlight, you would need to refer to the detailed electrical specifications of the Verdin Development Board. This information is typically found in the datasheet or design data documents for the Verdin Development Board.

Since the context does not provide this specific information, I recommend checking the Verdin Development Board datasheet or contacting Toradex technical support for precise details on the current delivery capabilities for the backlight.

You can find the design data and datasheets for the Verdin Development Board on the Toradex website or through the provided links in the context. If you still have trouble finding the information, reaching out to Toradex technical support would be the best course of action.
