Random Shutdown/Reboot Screen

We are using Torizon 5.6.0 with debian container on Colibri iMX7.
When we reboot or shutdown the system, we observe random screens as seen in attached photos

How to get proper animation or screen. Please suggest.

Pradeep

Hi @eklavya19 ,

Sorry for the late response. Could you give me more details regarding your situation?

  • From your screenshots this display doesn’t seem to be one of ours for the Colibri family, like the Resistive Touch Display or the Capacitive Touch Display - 7 inch. Can you confirm what display are you using?

  • How are you connecting the display to the Colibri iMX7?

  • Are you using one of our Carrier Boards or a custom one?

  • Does the screen always appear like that or after the reboot sequence it works as intended?

Best regards,
Lucas Akira

Hi,

Thanks for the reply.

Display is not purchased from Toradex.
  • How are you connecting the display to the Colibri iMX7?
We have one customized board where we connect the display. We mount Toradex Viola carrier board on it. There is one display ribbon cable that connects customized board to carrier board.
  • Are you using one of our Carrier Boards or a custom one?
We are using Toradex Viola Carrier Board with Colibri iMX7 1GB SOM
  • Does the screen always appear like that or after the reboot sequence it works as intended?
I have customized the torizoncore as per our requirement. I have changed the Splash screen.
Only while rebooting or shut down, these screen patterns are being observed.

Thanks for the information.

Did you alter the Device Tree in your custom TorizonCore image? Usually when connecting a display or monitor on an embedded device you have to add it in the device tree to get it working properly. See more details here: Display Output, Resolution and Timings (Linux) | Toradex Developer Center.

Can you test if this behavior also happens using our Linux Reference Multimedia quarterly image?
