Is power consumption of the Apalis iMX8 already known? Datasheet states TBD, but it would be nice to know at least worst case.
hi @suusjeve
Could you provide the version of the hardware and software of your module? Which carrier board are you using?
Best regards,
Jaski
Thank you for responding @jaski.tx !
For now i was thinking about using the Apalis iMX8 Quadmax 4gb WiFi/Bluetooth IT. I have not decided what kind of software i want too use. The carrier board will be the Ixora. But if it’s better to design your own carrier board, i will look into that. I hope you can help me!
hi @suusjeve
Thanks for the information. We will look into this issue and come back within this week to you.

Hi
The Power Consumption of Apalis iMX8 can be in worst case 15-20W. This consumption is an estimated value for the thermal power dissipation which could be used for the thermal solution. The power consumption’s value is only for the module. For the power design for the carrier board, the consumption of the peripherals should also be considered.
For the current consumption of the module, our current measurement have shown, that the current peaks are much higher than the mean current consumption. For our reference design, we decided to use 3.3V Power Supply which can deliver 8A. This design is safe against the consumption peaks of the module.
You can use the carrier Board Ixora. You just need to use the patched one which is delivered with Apalis iMX8 Kit.
If you want to design your own Custom carrier Board, then, please follow the Design Guide.

Jaski
