Power consumption of Colibri iMX8

Hi,

Would any preliminary power consumption results be available for the Colibri iMX8 QuadXPlus 2GB Wi-Fi / Bluetooth IT SoM?

Unfortunately we don’t have any Power Consumption results for Colibri iMX8 yet. We will publish them soon.

May I know, why exactly do you need these results? What is your application?

Hi Jaski,

Our application involves using the Colibri module inside a plastic enclosure. From previous experience we know that there is a maximum limit to the amount of power we can dissipate inside the enclosure before it starts to deform.

Knowing the power consumption would help us to evaluate whether our existing enclosure would still be suitable or if we would need to modify it/design a new one.

Hi @madone

We have done some power consumption tests on the SoM Colibri iMX8X. Considering these results, the average Power Consumption of the module is to expected around 10W. Please Note, this power consumption is only for the SoM. For the enclosure, you should also take the power consumption of the ICs on your carrier board and the peripheral into account.
