PCAP touchscreen options

Hi,

I am using an Apalis iMX8QM with an Ixora V1.3 carrier board. As this touch display is directly compatible with my SOM, is the Capacitive Touch Display 10.1" LVDS a PCAP display?

TIA

Hi, I’m the Toradex AI Assistant. I’m in early beta, and I would appreciate your feedback.

Hello,

Yes, the Capacitive Touch Display 10.1" LVDS is a Projected Capacitive (PCAP) touch display, which means it supports multi-touch and offers a more responsive touch experience compared to resistive touch displays. This display is directly compatible with your Apalis iMX8QM module and Ixora V1.3 carrier board setup, ensuring a seamless integration for your application.

How did you like my response?

Hey @tharper,

I wanted to add the datasheet for the Cap 10.1 LVDS.

[https://docs.toradex.com/105952-10-1-inch-lvds-capacitive-touch-display-1280x800-datasheet.pdf](Here is the link to the datasheet for the display)

Thanks Eric! I looked through that data sheet but didn’t see an indication. If possible, could you tell me what let’s me know in that data sheet that it’s a PCAP (for my own edification)?

Hey @tharper,

With the datasheet, the only indication is that is it a CTP touch, which is also in the name. This is to compare against the resistance touch screens that we also have for testing.

Are you asking specifically if the capacitive is projected vs surface? I’m not sure, I will see if I can find out. Is there a reason why this is important for you?

-Eric

Hey @eric.tx,

You nailed it, I’m asking specifically if the capacitive is projected or not. There isn’t a ‘specific’ reason for my question outside of my direct-line inquiring as they’ve used PCAP’s in the past with previous projects with relatively similar environmental concerns.

-Tim

Hey @tharper,

Just confirmed, it is a PCAP type.
