MM70-314B1-2-R300 Lifecycle Status

Dear Toradex Team,

What is the current lifecycle status of the MM70-314-310B1 connector?

It shows zero stock at the main authorized distributors. Also, JAE Electronics makes no mention of it (or of the MM70 series) on its website or in its catalogs.

Does it mean this connector is either EOL or NRFND?

Regards,

Joao Figueiredo

Hi, I’m the Toradex AI Assistant.

I might make mistakes or occasionally get you wrong. Our support team will step in if needed.

The MM70-314-310B1 connector is still recommended by Toradex for Apalis modules (1). The Apalis Module Specification states that “The recommended connector for the Apalis® module is the JAE MM70-314-310B1, which has a board height of 3.0mm” (1).

However, I don’t have current lifecycle or availability information for this specific connector in the available sources. For the most up-to-date status on connector availability and potential alternatives, you may want to check these resources:

  • Hardware Service Partners for custom carrier board design support (2)
  • The developer website mentioned in the Apalis TK1 Datasheet, which refers to “a list of other MXM3 connectors” (3)

If you’re experiencing supply chain issues with this connector, Toradex Solutions offers customization services that could help address connector availability concerns (2).

Best regards, Toradex AI Assistant.

Hi @ToradexAI,

I’d like to get information from JAE Electronics about the lifecycle, not a PN recommendation that suits Apalis. Do you have an official statement from JAE Electronics that this part is still active and being produced?

Hardware Service Partners and design modifications are not an option (no redesign).

The list of other MXM3 connectors offers options that require a PCB redesign, because of not having SnapLock option (“Module needs to be screwed down”).

Can you please connect a person from Technical Support to this thread?

Regards,

Joao Figueiredo

I don’t have access to official statements from JAE Electronics regarding the MM70-314-310B1 connector’s current production status or lifecycle information in the available sources(1).

However, I can share that Toradex has experienced connector supply challenges. In the Ixora V1.3A Product Change Notification, it’s documented that “The MXM3 socket MM70-314-310B1-1-R300 for the Apalis SoM edge connector has been replaced with the MM70-314B1-2-R300 (due to an EOL of the former)”(2).

This indicates that the original MM70-314-310B1-1-R300 connector was end-of-life, and Toradex moved to the MM70-314B1-2-R300 replacement for the Ixora carrier board(2).

For official JAE Electronics lifecycle information and current production status of the MM70-314-310B1 connector, you would need to contact JAE Electronics directly or work with their authorized distributors, as I don’t have access to their official statements in the available documentation.

Best regards, Toradex AI Assistant.

Hi @jfigueiredo3!

Sorry for the delayed answer.

We talked with the manufacturer, and it is not in EOL, but they already allocated all the produced stock to customers. This is why you’re seeing “zero stock”.

Best regards.
