LCD touch screen display not showing QT GUI

Hi I was trying to boot QT demo image. It is booting properly and I am getting the boot logs in serial console. I am not getting any GUI image on lcd 10" capacitive touch screen display. There are no overlay.txt file or overlay folder containing the dtb files in boot directory. I am using imx8 quadmax and ixora carrier board. Any views on that?

Kindly anyone help on this ? In the latest qt demo root partition, I dont see any Qtlauncher.conf file. It is present in older versions of boot2qt. I tried the other older versions, still its not working

Hi @Mohar !

Can you please share all the exact versions of hardware (module, carrier board, display, anything else) and software (BSP, operating system, application - if applicable) that you are using?

About the display, seems like it is at least working right? Since you are getting the console output.

If yes, after the booting process of the module, what do you see on the display?

Can you attach some photos and/or videos?

Best regards,

I am using imx8 quadmax apalis module. Uisng ixora 1.2A carrier board. I am booting Boot2qt image from toradex installer.

I can see just backlight on lvds touch screen and boot logs on hdmi monitor screen. No GUI is coming up anywhere

I am looking for display on touch screen. Atleast some GUI on 10.1" display.

What changes I need to do get a display on lvds output

Hi @Mohar !

I installed Boot2Qt 3.2.2 from Toradex Easy Installer feed on an Apalis IMX8 and the HDMI output worked well on one monitor but didn’t work well on another monitor.

Did try on another HDMI monitor?

Best regards,

Yes I have checked in different HDMI monitors but GUI didnt come up. I am more concerned in getting a display output on lvds 10" touch screen display. Any solution to this ?

Hi @Mohar

Please, keep in mind that the Boot2Qt image is meant solely for evaluation purposes.

Read more about it in the related Qt for Device Creation (Boot to Qt) | Toradex Developer Center article.

Best regards,

Hi @henrique.tx ya thats right but do we expect atleast some GUI for that on lvds display or there is some bug in the board support packages or in dtb files?

Hi @Mohar

As you can see in the dislpay section of the Qt for Device Creation (Boot to Qt) | Toradex Developer Center article, there is no reference to LVDS displays.

So, you really should add it by building your OS image based on Boot2Qt recipes for Yocto Project.

Also, keep in mind that it is possible to use easily develop and deploy Qt applications on the module using the TorizonCore. You can see the related documentation in the link below.

Hi @henrique.tx, but the GUI should come for hdmi monitor but its not coming. I tried to install the torizon core os image from toradex easy installer but its booting continuously in a loop and not working.

Hi @Mohar.

Which exact TorizonCore did you install? Can you inform the full name and version?

Also, please inform the exact Apalis IMX8 that you are using and its version.

Best regards,

The latest torizon core from toradex easy installer
Apalis imx8 quadmax, ixora carrier board v1.2

Hi @Mohar ,

Please inform the version of the module and the exact TorizonCore that you installed.

E.g.:

  • Apalis iMX8QM 4GB WB IT V1.1B
  • TorizonCore 5.3.0+build.7
    • This you can get running cat /etc/os-release or cat /etc/issue on your module’s terminal

Best regards,

I think issue with TorizonCore is different issue. The main issue is with the boot2qt GUI which is not coming up on lvds output or hdmi output. Can we solve this at first?

Apalis iMX8 QuadMax 4GB Wi-Fi / Bluetooth IT V1.1C/

Its the latest torizonCore from toradex easy installer. If the os image is booting in continuos loop, there is no way to run those commands

Hi @Mohar

About the TorizonCore rebooting, can you check if the power source is suitable for the Apalis IMX8 (12V 30W)?

About the Boot2Qt, from your photos, I can see that you have serial connection with the module. Could you share the complete boot log?

Best regards,

TorizonCore is not working because I think the dtb and environmental files are set incorrectly and has no reference related to ixora imx8qm. Here are the boot logs for torizonCore
