The iMX95 EVK getting started guide documents how to load a NXP BSP on the EVK. The document was lasted updated in July 2025. Since that time, NXP has release BSP version 6.12.34 2.1.0. The instructions in the “getting started” document do not work with this BSP version. My suspicion is that NXP dropped support for alpha silicon.
Would you please provide some clarification on the matter?

I can provide clarification about the i.MX95 silicon revision compatibility and support status based on Toradex’s documentation.
Silicon Revision Compatibility
Your suspicion about alpha silicon support appears to be correct. The transition from silicon revision A1 to B0 does impact software compatibility (1). According to Toradex’s compatibility documentation, there is a successive support strategy where existing hardware remains supported up to a defined release, while new hardware revisions gain support from following releases onward (1).
BSP Support Matrix
For BSP Layers and Reference Images for Yocto Project(1):
Verdin iMX95
V1.0A - A1: Supported up to 7.4.0, not supported in further major releases (1)
V1.0B - B0: Supported starting from 7.5.0, not supported in further major releases (1)
V1.1A - B0: Supported starting from 7.5.0, supported in further major releases (1)
SMARC iMX95
V1.0A - A1: Supported up to 7.3.0, not supported in further major releases (1)
V1.1A - B0: Supported up to 7.5.0, not supported in further major releases (1)
V1.2A - B0: Supported starting from 7.6.0, supported in further major releases (1)
Migration Recommendation
The documentation strongly recommends migrating development from the i.MX95 EVK to Verdin iMX95 or one of the other i.MX95-based modules (1). This approach provides better long-term support and compatibility with newer BSP versions.
Hardware Compatibility
The transition from A1 to B0 silicon revision does not impact carrier board compatibility - all i.MX95-based modules (Verdin, Aquila, and SMARC) remain fully compatible with their respective carrier boards (1).
To determine your specific hardware configuration and OS version, you can use the tdx-info command as described in the tdx-info documentation.

I believe you can still build 6.12 image onto Silicon A1. Information I received from another customer in the same situation as yourself is that NXP expects this to be deprecated around Q2 (estimate).
