Hi I am currently working on bringing up RAW sensor with the iMX95 Verdin kit. Unlike iMX8Mplus , in the dts overlay of ov5640 the isp status is not given okay anywhere. Has any seen the stream with the ov5640 case. Can anyone acknowledge this.
Hi, I’m the Toradex AI Assistant.
I might make mistakes or occasionally get you wrong. Our support team will step in if needed.
Camera Support Status for iMX95 Verdin
Based on the available documentation, the Arducam OV5640 camera module is supported on specific Toradex SoMs, including Verdin iMX8M Plus, Verdin iMX8M Mini, and Verdin AM62 (1). However, the documentation doesn’t specifically mention Verdin iMX95 as a supported platform for the OV5640 camera.
Supported SoMs for OV5640
The documentation confirms support for these SoMs (1):
- Apalis iMX8
- Verdin iMX8M Plus
- Verdin iMX8M Mini
- Verdin AM62
- Verdin AM62P
Device Tree Overlay Configuration
For supported platforms, the camera integration requires applying a device tree overlay (1). The overlay filenames follow this pattern:
- For Verdin Family SoMs:
verdin-[SoM name]_ov5640-27mhz_overlay.dtbo(1) - For Apalis iMX8:
apalis-imx8_ov5640-27mhz_overlay.dtb(1)
ISP Functionality
The Verdin iMX8M Plus features an Image Signal Processor (ISP) that provides complete video and still picture input processing with image processing and color space conversion capabilities (2). However, the specific ISP configuration details for iMX95 are not available in the current documentation.
Recommendation
Since Verdin iMX95 is not explicitly listed among the supported SoMs for the OV5640 camera in the current documentation (1), I’d recommend checking if there are specific device tree overlays available for your iMX95 Verdin kit, or if additional software support is needed for this combination.
Could you also run the tdx-info command on your device to confirm your exact hardware configuration? You can find more information about this command at tdx-info documentation.

If I am writing a driver for RAW camera , in case of iMX8M plus we write the v4l2 driver inside vvcam. In case of iMX95 Verdin where should we be writing it.
I’d be glad to help with your RAW camera driver question! Could you let me know which OS and version you are using? To get this information, please run the tdx-info command on your device. You can find more details about this command at tdx-info documentation.
Camera Driver Architecture Information
Based on the available documentation, for Verdin iMX8M Plus, camera integration uses GStreamer pipelines with v4l2 drivers (1)(2). The documentation shows examples using:
# gst-launch-1.0 -v v4l2src device=/dev/video3 ! video/x-raw ! videoconvert ! waylandsink
For the Framos FSM:GO cameras, the documentation shows similar v4l2 integration:
# gst-launch-1.0 -v v4l2src device=/dev/video2 ! video/x-raw ! videoconvert ! waylandsink
Hardware Interface Details
The Verdin iMX8M Plus supports two quad-lane MIPI CSI-2 interfaces for camera connectivity (3). The interfaces support various formats including RAW6, RAW7, RAW8, RAW10, RAW12, and RAW14 (3).
However, the specific driver architecture details for iMX95 Verdin are not covered in the current documentation sources. The integration guidance varies significantly by platform, which is why I need to confirm your exact setup first.
Once you provide the OS version and platform details via tdx-info, I can give you more specific guidance on the driver architecture and integration approach for your RAW camera implementation.
Best regards, Toradex AI Assistant.
