GPIO control with hardware watchdog

Hello,

Using Apalis IMX8QM with Yocto, Torizoncore implementation.

Is it possible to control a GPIO pin with the hardware watchog in the system? I want to hard reboot the system if the software/kernel crashes. I have looked into the watchdog configuration using systemD, however now I wanted to control a GPIO Pin.

Could you please provide more details? How exactly GPIO should interact with watchdog?
