Hi all,
When building my project I am getting the error described below. When a searched about, I funded that the solution is to delete the Deploy files, but if I do this, my build gets broken because missing files error.

Someone could please help us?

The build has stopped, as continuing in this scenario WILL break things - if not now, possibly in the future (we’ve seen builds fail several months later). If the system knew how to recover from this automatically it would, however there are several different scenarios which can result in this and we don’t know which one this is. It may be you have switched providers of something like virtual/kernel (e.g. from linux-yocto to linux-yocto-dev), in that case you need to execute the clean task for both recipes and it will resolve this error. It may be you changed DISTRO_FEATURES from systemd to udev or vice versa. Cleaning those recipes should again resolve this error, however switching DISTRO_FEATURES on an existing build directory is not supported - you should really clean out tmp and rebuild (reusing sstate should be safe). It could be the overlapping files detected are harmless in which case adding them to SSTATE_DUPWHITELIST may be the correct solution. It could also be your build is including two different conflicting versions of things (e.g. bluez 4 and bluez 5 and the correct solution for that would be to resolve the conflict. If in doubt, please ask on the mailing list, sharing the error and filelist above.

Hi @adrianomunin.eld ,

Normally this issue happens when deleting the build/tmp folder without deleting the deploy folder.

What happens is that the build is trying to generate the files again, but those files were already deployed by another build before. To solve this issue, you will need to delete the files available in the deploy folder directly, and Yocto will build and deploy these files again.

If you want to start a clean build, the suggestion is to delete build/tmp and build/deploy and restart the bitbake.

thanks for the quick response, but I get the same error.
I deleted the tmp and deploy content, and then execute “bitbake core-image-minimal -c cleanall && bitbake core-image-minimal”, as suggested.

Hi @adrianomunin.eld ,

It’s strange since it’s not finding the imx6q-apalis-eval.dtb file, it seems that something messed your Yocto system.

Since you are using BSP 2.8, which is quite old, can you please try deleting the folders deploy, build/buildhistory, build/cache, build/sstate-cache and build/tmp-glibc and try to rebuild it again?

This is really strange, the kernel files aren’t being deployed to the deploy folder.

Please try to execute bitbake linux-toradex -c cleanall && bitbake linux-toradex and verify if the file imx6q-apalis-eval.dtb exists on the deploy directory, this will clean the kernel build and build it again, generating the zImage and .dtb files. If the file doesn’t exist and you have another layer included, please try to remove this layer and do the same test again to verify if with this change the files begin to be deployed correctly.

the linux-toradex build works, but it does not generate imx6q-apalis-eval.dtb.
I don know how many extra layers added I have. How could I know it and remove it?

Hi @adrianomunin.eld ,

You added the layer meta-vertex-hdmi that is not default on our project. Can you please try to remove it and check if the file is generated?

You can do this by changing the content of the build/conf/bblayers.conf file.
