As I can read from the datasheet the Wireless module on the Verdin iMX8M Mini Quad 2GB WB IT board is a AWCM276NF, does anybody know if the chip and thereby the SoM support BLE long range / Coded PHY?
Hi,
the marvel chip inside the module does not support BLE long-range coded PHY.

Matthias
Greetings @AndyMcD,
The wireless module we use is based on the NXP(Marvel) 88W8997: 2.4/5 GHz Dual-Band 2x2 Wi-Fi® 5 (802.11ac) + Bluetooth® 5.3 Solution | NXP Semiconductors
While this does support BLE 5.0, it only supports the minimum requirements of BLE 5.0. This does not include BLE long range/Coded PHY unfortunately.
Best regards,
Jeremias
Thanks for the replies.
@jeremias.tx a last question does NXP 88W8997 then support BLE Mesh?
We don’t have this explicitly documented anywhere but I do know we have other customers who are using the built-in WiFi/Bluetooth on our modules to implement a mesh network with Bluetooth. I assume they’re doing this via the official BLE mesh implementation.

Jeremias
Okay. Is it possible to get some sort of official verification regarding whether the Verdin iMX8M Mini Quad 2GB WB IT does support mesh or not.
Best Regards
Alright I confirmed that we have a customer that is using BLE mesh with multiple (~20) sensors successfully. They’re doing this on the Colibri i.MX6ULL, however this uses the same WiFI/Bluetooth module as the Verdin iMX8M, so there should be no issue.
Best Regards,
Jeremias
