Do we need to use an external antenna with verdin imx8mm

Hi,

We can not see any Wi-Fi SSID on list when we scan with nmcli linux command on verdin imx8mm v1.1B/ dahlia v1.1B on Torizoncore 5.5 Linux. System does not give any error. Only gives an empty list of available Wi-Fi SSIDs.Although there is much more available Wi-Fi networks around the system…

We are using verdin som’s internal wifi hardware.

Do we need to use an external antenna with verdin imx8mm v1.1B/ dahlia v1.1B ?

Thanks in advance,
Basar

Hi @bsr ,

Welcome to the Toradex community, feel free to browse around the platform and reach out to Toradex employees.

Yes, you do need an antenna actually, you would need 2 of them for better performance. The driver handling the whole communication is optimized for two antennas.

I put the antennas in a shopping cart for you here.

Best Regards
Kevin

Yes. In my case, I could see the available SSIDs and even connect to them but then wifi didn’t work reliably. Connecting external antennas fixed all problems
