Customized Heatsink - Verdin Industrial Heatsink Type 1

I am using Verdin iMX8M Plus Quad 4GB IT with IVY Carrier board. We also bought the Verdin Industrial Heatsink Type 1. Theheight of this heatsink is more and is obstructing our mechanical housing. Can Toradex supply these heatsinks with a reduced height of 4 mm. The overall height of the Verdin Industrial Heatsink Type 1 is 14.27 mm. I am looking for 10.27 mm or a bit smaller.

Current Situation

Unfortunately, both available heatsink types have the same overall height of 14.27 mm (1). The main difference between Type 1 and Type 2 is the thermal interface material (TIM) thickness - Type 2 has a reduced TIM thickness from 3.175 mm to 1.524 mm compared to Type 1 (2), but this doesn’t affect the overall heatsink height.

Custom Solutions

Based on the available documentation, there are no standard heatsinks with the reduced 10.27 mm height you require. For custom mechanical solutions or modifications to meet your specific height requirements, I’d recommend exploring Toradex’s Custom Product Solutions services, which can provide custom carrier board design and mechanical modifications to meet specific project needs.

You can purchase the standard heatsinks from the Toradex webshop (3), but for custom height requirements, you would need to discuss this with Toradex’s engineering team through their technical support channels available at their Technical Support Channels (3).
