Compatibility of HDMI Adapter Colibri iMX6 and iMX7

Hi,

Is this adapter compatible with the new iMX7 Colibri Module (used on DVI FFC connector (X2) of Iris carrier board)?

And is it supported in the newest Linux Embedded image?

Thanks!
Pascal

Hi

No, it is not compatible.

Please refer to the ‘Compatible Products’ tab.

The adapter does route HDMI signals coming from a Colibri module which provides these signals to a standard HDMI connector.

The i.MX 7 SoC does not have a built in HDMI transmitter, thus the module does not provide HDMI.

Hi,

@max.tx
in the datasheet of imx7 it is written that one can design a parallel RGB to HDMI converter on the carrier borad.

Do you have any experience you can share how to do that? E.g. which IC you would recommend?

Thanks!

Betty

There are several parallel RGB to HDMI converter solutions available on the marked. Unfortunately, we do not have a reference design for that. However, NXP features such a solution in their reference design of the i.MX 7 SoC. They are using the Silicon Image SiI9022ACNU. If you have an account at NXP, you can access the reference design under this address.

Thanks for the fast reply!
