Certification status for RF cables and antennas to be used with the AW-CM276NF

In this page I see the list of certification status for RF cables and antennas to be used with the AW-CM276NF. I understood that they’re pre-certification.

I see that for the dipole antenna cables, Toradex did tests both for 100mm and 200mm.

For PCB antennas, on the other side, only 100mm lengths are listed.

Is this for some reason?

I mean, cable longer than 100mm has been tested and didn’t pass?

Or results are available but are not listed (yet)?

Or cable longer than 100mm has never been tested?

For my project I’m interested in the Molex 146153-1300 that is the same as the listed Molex 146153-1100 but with cable 300mm long (instead of 100mm).

Do you have some pre-certification resuls for this PCB antenna?

Thanks

Looking at the pre-certification testing documentation, I can clarify why only 100mm cable lengths are listed for PCB antennas(1).

Pre-certification Testing Scope

For dipole antenna cables, Toradex conducted pre-certification testing with both 100mm and 200mm cable lengths(1). The documentation shows these specific cable configurations were tested:

  • Antenna Cable MHF4 to RP-SMA (100mm)(1)
  • Antenna Cable MHF4 to RP-SMA (200mm)(1)
  • Antenna Cable MHF4 to RP-SMA Outdoor IP67 (200mm)(1)

However, for PCB antennas, the pre-certification testing was conducted specifically with 100mm cable lengths(1). The test report confirms that antennas like the Molex 146153-1100 were tested with 100mm I-pex cables(2).

Regarding the Molex 146153-1300

Based on the available documentation, there are no pre-certification results listed for the Molex 146153-1300 (300mm cable version)(1). The pre-certification testing appears to have been conducted only with the 100mm cable variant (146153-1100)(1)(2).

Why This Limitation Exists

Pre-certification measurements are carried out by accredited laboratories, and the specific cable lengths tested represent the combinations that were evaluated during the certification process(1). The absence of longer cable lengths in the PCB antenna section likely indicates that these specific configurations (PCB antennas with cables longer than 100mm) have not yet been submitted for pre-certification testing.

Recommendation

For your project requiring the 300mm cable version, you would need to verify compliance through your own testing or contact Toradex directly to inquire about potential future pre-certification plans for longer cable lengths with PCB antennas.

The pre-certification process provides additional trust that certified device combinations will not impede final certification of end devices(1), but the absence from the list doesn’t necessarily mean the antenna won’t work - it simply means it hasn’t undergone the formal pre-certification process.
