I don’t think with such low amount of RAM you will be much successful in building anything more than some tiny little samples. Of course you may configure ample swap space but it will just be super slow. I lately did some tests on our 256 GB RAM dual 10 core Xeon build server and an optimal full from-scratch build consumes almost 40 GB of RAM taking about 1 hour 40 minutes to complete. YMMV.
In my case Core i7 based laptop with 16Gb of RAM is good enough for build .
