Apalis-imx8 flashing new image

Hello,
I’m trying to flash a new image to my Apalis-imx8 board using toradex-easy installer for that I’ve to short two pads to put my board in recovery mode and load toradex-easy installer. But following this process every time is not an ideal way as there is heat-sink connected on top of the board.
I’ve also worked on Apalis-imx6 and there was an easy way to load toradex-easy installer(stop at u-boot and run command bmode usb).

The documentation I’m following is - Loading Toradex Easy Installer | Toradex Developer Center

There is one more method provided - Load Easy Installer From External Media (SD Card/USB Stick) | Toradex Developer Center
but this one is also not working as I’m getting an error -

Apalis iMX8 # run bootcmd_usb0
Unknown command ‘usb’ - try ‘help’
Unknown command ‘usb’ - try ‘help’

I know this question has already been answered in this thread - How to access Apalis IMX8 recovery mode

But still if there is some other method available please share, I’ll be very thankful.

Regards,
Gaurav C.

Hello,
this is frequent problem.
My personal solution is to solder two wires to the two pads and shorten them with a small jumper.

Good luck!

Marco

Copy files on your SD card, attach to the board and run

run bootcmd_mmc1
