Any plan for Verdin iMX8M-Plus BSP upgrade?

According to the release notes here, Toradex still uses NXP BSP L5.15.32_2.0.0 Jun 27, 2022 for iMX8M-Plus platforms.

According to NXP here, L6.1.36_2.1.0_MX8MP is available since Sep 27, 2023

I don’t know the exact reason why Toradex sticks to one and half years old BSP but I wonder do you have any plan to jump to one of recent BSP provided by NXP?

Thanks.

Hi @Fide!

Toadex invests lots of resources to bring up high-quality BSPs to all of the current modules. There is also extensive testing for all the modules and it takes time. Not to mention the long time of support for BSPs. Therefore, this choice made by Toradex results in a longer cycle to bump the major version of our BSP (and migrate to newer releases from NXP - and now from TI as well).

There are plans to release BSP 7 based on newer BSP from NXP (not necessarily the L6.1.36_2.x.x) and TI, but at the moment, we can not publicly share a timeline.

Do you have any concrete requirements that force you to use a newer BSP from NXP?

Best regards,
