Any documentation to add an custom meta layer (say simple platform driver) to Apalis imx6 Yocto BSP

We wanted to add an custom meta layer [ say an hello world character (platform) driver & hello world application ] to existing default Yocto BSP for Apalis iMX6 core.

Tried manual searching in the SEARCH / KNOWLEDGE BASE option on website but could not figure any documentation / communication thread

Could members please share along the links / pointers on same.
