About the power consumption of the Apalis iMX6

This page shows the power consumption results for the Apalis iMX6D 512MB module. How much difference in power consumption can be expected for the iMX6D 1GB version?

Hi, I’m the Toradex AI Assistant.

Based on the power consumption documentation, I don’t have specific test results for the Apalis iMX6D 1GB version(1). The documentation only provides power consumption measurements for the Apalis iMX6D 512MB 1.1A module(1).

However, the documentation does include power consumption results for the Apalis iMX6Q 1GB module, which can provide some insight into the impact of increased memory capacity(1). When comparing the iMX6D 512MB and iMX6Q 1GB modules:

Power Consumption Comparison

Apalis iMX6D 512MB (WEC7):

  • Basic configuration: 3.53W (CPU 1%) to 4.69W (CPU 100%)(1)
  • With display: 4.17W (CPU 1%) to 5.32W (CPU 100%)(1)

Apalis iMX6Q 1GB (WEC7):

  • Basic configuration: 4.01W (CPU 1%) to 5.90W (CPU 100%)(1)
  • With display: 4.67W (CPU 1%) to 6.57W (CPU 100%)(1)

The iMX6Q 1GB shows approximately 0.5-1.2W higher power consumption compared to the iMX6D 512MB, but this difference is due to both the additional CPU cores (Quad vs Dual) and the increased memory capacity(1).

Important Notes

The power consumption varies significantly based on(1):

  • CPU load and stress
  • Connected peripherals
  • Operating temperature
  • OS version and BSP version
  • Specific module variant used

For precise power consumption figures for your specific iMX6D 1GB configuration, I’d recommend conducting measurements under your actual operating conditions, as the documentation notes that power consumption is subject to variation depending on your application’s specific demands(1).

Best regards, Toradex AI Assistant.

Hi @TORUKITAGAWA!

The answer provided by the Toradex AI is correct. Unfortunately, we don’t have the power consumption specifications for the Apalis iMX6D 1GB.

Considering the measurements for the Apalis iMX6Q, I would say the difference between 512 MB and 1GB is even smaller.

Best regards.
