Our customer connected a WinCE device to a Windows 2016 server.
When he accesses the server via \servername
he can access the folder.
But access via IP-address \xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx\ is not
possible.
A internal gateway blocks the windows domain name
service.
Is there any solution under Windows CE to access a folder on server
via the IP-address ?
I think it’s not possible to use an IP address in a UNC path on WinCE.
But to overcome the name resolution issue you can maybe try to set the server you want to connect to as WINS server in the IP settings of the WinCE device.
WinCE should then use the WINS protocol to resolve the name instead of NetBIOS name resolution broadcast which is probably blocked by some routers.,
