System clock accuracy

What is the system clock accuracy (ppm?) of the Colibri iMX6DL 512MB IT V1.1A

Dear j.hoestra,

Greetings and thank you for writing to the Toradex Community!

The system clock accuracy or the ppm of the Colibri iMX6DL 512MB IT V1.1A should be within 50ppm, which is also in accordance with requirements of the Ethernet specs.

Best regards,
Janani

Hello Janani,
I am particularly interested in the accuracy of the system ‘date and time’ clock (not the hardware clock). Is that also 50 ppm? And what is the temperature stability?

Best regards,
Jan Hoekstra

Depends on your set up. If you are not using Network Time Servers or RTC on a carrier board accuracy is defined by system HW clock. Otherwise by Time Server or Real Time Clock you are using.

Hello Alex. I do not use a Network Time Server. So only(!) at power-on the system reads the time from the hardware clock and copies this time in the System clock. From now on the time accuracy depends on the System clock. Does this mean that the accuracy is 50 ppm?

Yes, 50 ppm. You can set cron or other scheduler to synchronize system time with RTC periodically.
