Sorry for the delay on this topic.
The reason RPMSG is not working is that the overlay is made for the 2 GB version of the SoM.
Therefore it maps some memory areas to regions which are simply not available in the 1 GB version.

There, we are also running the firmware from DDR, however the most important changes are to the address on the overlay and the VDEV base address.
