Kernel log Spamming: "mmc2: Switching to 3.3V signalling voltage failed"

Hello!

We are using Apalis IMX6D and Ixora for years now, but we have never seen a error like this, nor do we know how to handle it properly. A Week ago we got our delivery of IMX6D and Ixora boards… we plugged them together and installed our software… nothing special. But we Had this one strange log output while installing (from SD Card) it said:

mmc2: Switching to 3.3V signalling voltage failed

But the installation went just fine so we thought it wont matter that much. After that we started our software… everything works but the kernellog keeps spamming and he wont stop:

[ 354.297521] mmc2: Switching to 3.3V signalling voltage failed
[ 354.521141] mmc2: Switching to 3.3V signalling voltage failed
[ 354.820963] mmc2: Switching to 3.3V signalling voltage failed
[ 355.036305] mmc2: Switching to 3.3V signalling voltage failed
[ 355.244171] mmc2: Switching to 3.3V signalling voltage failed
[ 355.456982] mmc2: Switching to 3.3V signalling voltage failed
[ 355.674205] mmc2: Switching to 3.3V signalling voltage failed

Its impossible to read our kernel logs like this. Our SD Cards work just fine we tried 4 different. We even tried to install on a older system… the error wont appear there. One of our older setups is:

Apalis Imx6D 512 MB V1.1A,
Ixora V1.0A

Now we use:

Apalix IMX6D 512 MB V1.1B, Ixora V1.1A

Our kernel did not change… we use following kernel:
toradex_4.9-1.0.x-imx from git://git.toradex.com/linux-toradex.git

Our Devicetreefiles are here… they are working just fine:

We keep thinking it may be a hardware error, still we are not sure about that… but it keeps appearing on every single device from this delivery.

I hope you can help us here,
Greetings Georg

Thank you @jaski.tx! I made a few adjustments in the devicetree and the error is gone.
Great Support! Have a nice day.

Greetings,
Georg

Hi @GeorgWesolutions

There were some changes introduced in the version 1.1A of Ixora, which are described in the PCN. Therefore, there a is also a new version a device tree. You need to adapt your device tree files regarding the SD interface if you want to use the version 1.1A of Ixora.

Best regards,
Jaski

Perfect that it works. Thanks for the feedback.

Best regards,
Jaski
