Is the Apalis HDMI_1_CEC pin required for Correct HDMI Audio and Video Function

I am considering using a STMicroelectronics HDMI2C4-5F2 interface chip between Apalis HDMI interface and the HDMI connector. This IC does not have a CEC (Consumer Electronics Control) connection to the Apalis HDMI_1_CEC Pin 220. It does have a connection for the HDMI connector end for bias and ESD protection.

Will this work OK? Will the HDMI have correct video and audio?

iMX8 HDMI IP is using it’s own firmware provided by NXP and looks like it using CEC pin to configure the HDMI and HDMI phy
