Is it possible to boot from a USB stick on apalis TK1 and ixora dev board.
Could you please point me in the direction on how to do it?

You may either use our legacy sdboot way as e.g. described here or even better rely on the distro boot mechanism which you may find explained here. Distro boot has e.g. been tested with recent Fedora ARM images and is enabled by default as fallback should regular eMMC booting fail.
